Summer in New York never came! It's already turning cool and my pasty skin never got a chance to cook up some heat for the winter.
I have a heaping handful of shoots I want to blog about, but I felt like posting this one as I'm listening to the John Coltrane record Josh just gave me. :) I now know I've never listened to real jazz before...
Andy would call himself a drifter and I met him at the Rabbit Hole (cafe around my corner) on his NY circuit back to New Orleans. He was laughing boisterously loudly from a table away which was hard not to catch onto, despite the fact I didn't know him or what was funny. He became a Rabbit Hole regular I always counted on seeing when getting coffee (and taking a break from editing!) We shot these photos at Coney Island a few days before he drove back to New Orleans. Thanks to Jaimie for lighting for us.

Diana and Danny eloped to Paris a year ago, and despite a fantastic time, a giant pro-communist rally overwhelmed the streets and prevented much mobility -- it even made them almost 2 hours late for their ceremony. (Despite the rally chaos, their awesome photographer, David Pullum, also the organizer for the Floshops conference I attended in London earlier this year, delivered a beautiful body of work.)
I was excited when they contacted me for a year-later photo session -- this time, New York-style. So with bubbles, high heels, and photo gear in tow, we sauntered around the park near the Brooklyn Museum until after dark.

yesterday, dawn and boris came over to get some shots of their adorable, wee daughter, ava. we kept the shoot in-studio, so it was a fun challenge to get interesting shots without the support of a cool cityscape behind us.
i also liked the challenge of time constraints. One-year-olds tend to give you just a handful of minutes to get your shot, and then they're outta there!

aaahhh so cute!!

I enjoyed selecting a combination of screaming-happy-curious-sad images. pretty true to life for any kid, right? :)
