Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas

The simple, clean and modern design of Prospect House is really cool. It reminds me a little bit of Donald Judd’s aesthetic, the way the building is designed around enjoying the beauty of the natural landscape, as well as the natural light and shadows. Not to mention the fact that there is a rectangular sculpture in the field outside the building, where couples usually gather for the ceremony (very Judd-like). You can decorate the sculpture (so many options here!), or leave it raw.

The interior is simple and clean, with the feeling of a gallery space. You can really make it your own, or you can keep it simple and raw. It’s a flexible design, and I’ve seen the building used multiple ways.

I love the breezeway when you first enter, as it gives the look and feel of being outside while still being shielded from the Texas sun or rain. The landscape around Prospect House is very well-maintained, and for photos, you can get all of the following: views of the hill country, lush trees, silver metal, glass and white wood of the building materials, and many options for dramatic light and shadow.
